"client service" mindset

6. Ability to implement a "client service" mindset

"A high level of client service is essential for any IT organization. Successful managers create a culture that places customer issues first—whether the customers are internal users or external clients. Great IT managers know the reason they have careers is that people need the technology and support services they provide, which is why successful IT managers build excellent client relationships."

I agree to the article that in order to be successful in your career, especially in IT you must posses this trait – the ability to implement “client service” mindset. It does not necessarily mean that when you render services to your client/customer you are only after for profit, money, income or gain. That should not be the mindset of every IT professional who wants to soar high on his or her field. We should take into considerations the best and quality service that we can offer to our clients in order for us to gain our clients’ trust and loyalty in the first place, and then profit, money and success will follow. IT managers must be a friend and a listener to customers’ issues and must place their concerns on priority in order to build an excellent client relationship. Whether the customers are internal users or external clients, the best attitude for IT managers is that they should cater the needs of both parties equally and give the same attention and service for them because they are all part of the technology and support services that the organization are rendering. A great IT manager recognizes client/customer issues and present answers and solutions to their different needs and treats them as a friend. After all when you have a good client relationship, it will become easy for you to reach them out and market your product. Things will just come your way and evrything will just follow when you have the ability to implement client service.
